Simply click on the region of any chromosome to see more details on the experimental data that has been collected and
physically mapped to that region.
A bracket to the left of some region on the chromosome indicates that the feature is mapped
across multiple bins. To view experimental data for these multiple-bin regions, move your mouse
to the left of the bracket until the arrow changes into a hand.

You can look at different versions of the chromosome ideogram physical maps by opening the
"Change Map" menu below, then selecting which map you're interested in viewing.
Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms: these two maps (genome-specific and diploid) represent
all the individual nucleotide substitions made between the reference plant line's sequence and
at least one other sequence. For example, if the reference line is Ta17 and has an A at position
215, but both Sn24 and Sn25 have a G at position 215, then this will be coded as one SNP.
Insertion/Deletion Polymorphisms: these two maps (genome-specific and diploid) show
the bin counts for cases where a section of one or more nucleotides that is present
or absent in the reference line sequence is respectively absent or present in
one or more of the other lines.
Loci: these two maps (genome-specific and diploid) show the bin counts for the
number of polymorphism loci in the database. Note that any given locus
may have zero, one or more polymorphisms.
Mapped ESTs: This map provides a quick summary of all the EST loci that
have been physically mapped in our database.

| Using your own data |
|
You can also use this page to load your own physical mappings from a file. The file should be comma-delimited
and in one of two formats.
Format 1: bin-name, number - every line contains a bin name from
the wEst database followed by a comma, followed by the number of items in that bin.
Multiple lines with the same bin name will be summed.
Format 2: mapped-est-accession, chromosome, genome - every line contains
the accession number for some mapped est, the chromosome (1-7) and genome (A,B,D)
on which it is located, and will be counted as a single item in whichever bin
that est maps to.
Once you've compiled your file, simply upload it to the server by clicking "Browse",
choosing the location of the file on your local file system, then clicking "Load".
The name of the file should now appear at the bottom of the "Change Map" list of
maps below, and will stay there for the remainder of your session so you can switch
between maps easily. Note that loading another file will simply overwrite the previous
map.
